Concern over Noel Fielding as it is revealed he abruptly left the comedy series due to health issues as it is claimed the cast and crew 'plan to sue the show's creators'.

Concern is mounting for Noel Fielding after he abruptly pulled out of filming his comedy series The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin due to health issues.

The Great British Bake Off star, 51, played the lead role of the legendary bandit in the multimillion-dollar show which had its first series on Apple TV last spring, but earlier this week it was reported that the second series was canceled due to half production.

A spokesperson for the comedian confirmed: ‘This is a private and confidential matter relating to our client’s health.

“We are saddened by the decision to cease production, but cannot comment further on this matter.”

Meanwhile a source close to the program said The times: ‘Noel has said that he can’t film anymore and that’s why he had no choice but to stop.

“This is not a decision that was taken lightly and this extreme result would not have been reached if all possible solutions had not been exhausted.

‘People have been very concerned about Noel’s well-being and given him time to recover, but there are also significant repercussions. Some people are furious.’

It comes after reports that the cast and crew working on the show are planning to sue the show’s creators after it was axed.

While filming for the second season was scheduled to resume after the Christmas break, the cast and crew received the devastating news that would not be happening.

It was reported by the sun that Noel did not return after the holidays and now more than 100 are considering a class-action lawsuit against the creators of the Apple TV+ comedy.

They report that because Noel, who plays the character of Turpin, is also a co-writer and executive producer, he will likely be sued as well.

The publication claims that he left for France before the team learned the shocking elimination news and has not been seen in public since.

A source said: “Cancelling a show mid-production is practically unheard of – plus there’s a mystery about what happened.”

“He has left the heads of other programs with whom he feels extremely nervous.

Furthermore, you will have to face any legal action. It’s going to be a tough few months for him.’

Originally known for his style of dark comedy, Noel became a household name after joining the Great British Bake Off presenting line-up in 2017.

Seen as an unusual choice at the time, he won the hearts of viewers, co-hosting the show with Sandi Toksvig, Matt Lucas and, more recently, Alison Hammond.

In 2021, the star sparked concern after she suddenly disappeared mid-episode of the Channel 4 show due to a mystery illness.

Co-host Matt told viewers: “Okay Bakers, Noel’s feeling a bit unwell, but let’s get on with it…” as he took on solo duties for the final 10 minutes of the show.

Born in south London, Noel met comedian Julian Barratt at Croydon art school and they formed the eccentric comedy group Mighty Boosh.

The group got their big break after winning Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 1998 and three BBC series of Might Boosh followed, as well as sell-out stage shows.

To put Noel firmly on the map, he went on to play Richmond in Channel 4 comedy The IT Crowd and star team captain alongside Phil Jupitus in Never Mind The Buzzcocks from 2009 to 2015.

Embracing the rock and roll lifestyle, Noel became no stranger to the party scene and was regularly seen on nights out with stars such as Russell Brand, Pete Doherty, Amy Winehouse and even Courtney Love.

It comes after Noel admitted what makes him “absolutely furious” on the set of The Great British Bake Off – and includes Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Ahead of season 15, Noel revealed that he was as passionate about the show as ever and that he felt particularly “protective” of that year’s bakers.

Recalling how she burst into tears when she was tasked with sending one of them home, the TV personality admitted.

In an interview with The Guardian he said: ‘There are some very special bakers in the tent this year. Somehow the standard keeps rising.’

Noel continued: ‘These amazing young bakers are so much better than they should be for their age. It is a harvest year. One of the best so far.

‘I’m fascinated by people. I feel protective of them. If Paul and Prue are harsh on them, I’m absolutely furious. It’s devastating when they leave. This year I especially liked a baker. When I had to send them home, I cried.”
