Shorter wigs are becoming more popular among celebrities and common among the public. They come in different looks and feel. Your short human hair wig can either be a frontal lace wig or a closure. It is important to understand the difference between a closure wig and a lace frontal wig to ensure you get what you are looking for.

What is a closure wig

Closures are hair extensions that are sewn on the middle part of your wig from temple to temple  for easier parting. They come in three types namely, free closure, middle part closure and three part closure. They do not recreate your natural hairline.

What is a lace frontal wig

With frontals the hair extensions cover half of the wig from ear to ear. This allows frontals to recreate one’s natural hairline; with frontals one can have an extensive range of hairstyles, even ponytails. Ponytails are possible with 360 lace frontals.

The differences between a lace frontal wig and a closure wig

The main difference between lace frontal wigs and closure wigs is size. Closures are smaller and run from temple to temple and are used to recreate natural hair parting. On the other hand lace frontal wigs run from ear to ear and are used to recreate a natural hairline.

Another difference between closure and lace frontal wigs is cost. Lace frontal wigs are expensive as compared to closures. Choose closures if you are interested in a particular part, for example the middle part. If you do not want to be restricted to one style and crave versatility then lace frontal wigs are for you.

  3. Inverted or graduated bob: similar to the A line bob with the difference being it has layers and a tapered back.
  4. Short bob wigs with bangs: this wig has bangs and it has the same length around the head’s circumference  ending near the chin..
  5.  Asymmetrical bob: this is a bob where one side in the front  is longer than the other side.

How to care for your short human hair wig

After buying a short human hair wig, you need to take care of it well to ensure it lasts for long in good shape. Here are some of the things you should do:

  1. Keep your wig clean, how often you wash it will depend on how often you wear it. It is recommended to wash it every four weeks.
  2. You need a high quality wig shampoo and conditioner to wash your wig.
  3. You will also need a good detangling brush.
  4. Before washing, gently detangle your wig with your detangling brush.
  5. Use lukewarm water to wash and rinse the wig.
  6. After cleaning the wig you can either air dry it or blow dry it but on very low heat as high temperatures can potentially weaken the hair.
  7. Store the wig in the original pack it came with to prevent detangling.

NB: Never brush your wig while wet. You should also avoid the roots when washing hence do not soak the entire wig in water.
