Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are desperately looking for a new team manager. Julian Nagelsmann, who had been fired from FC Bayern, was quickly identified as the preferred candidate, but Spurs seem to have several options open. There is also city rival FC Chelsea, which can become a problem.
According to the Telegraph, Julian Nagelsmann is still high on Tottenham Hotspur’s list to fill the vacancy as team manager after Antonio Conte was fired. The Londoners are currently being looked after on an interim basis by assistant coach Cristian Stellini, from whose first three league games the club has won, drawn and lost one game.
As reported by Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham boss Daniel Levy wants to take the necessary time to get things right this time after several disappointing team manager decisions.
After the overall very successful time under Mauricio Pochettino (2014 to 2019), José Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo and Antonio Conte all failed miserably. This is probably one of the reasons why the club did not immediately sign a successor.
Kompany, Slot or Luis Enrique?
A candidate who is now being traded alongside Julian Nagelsmann at Spurs is former Belgium international Vincent Kompany, who has caused a sensation this season as team manager of Burnley FC. Promotion to the Premier League has been certain since the beginning of April, so big is the lead over the competition. As a result, Kompany has attracted the attention of the Tottenham bosses, it is said.
According to Romano, the former Man City star is highly regarded, although no talks with the 37-year-old are planned. According to “Telegraph”, Feyenoord coach Arne Slot has also brought another name to Spurs’ attention.
According to the report, however, the trail to the Spaniard Luis Enrique is far hotter. The former Barca coach is aiming for an engagement on the island. Like Julian Nagelsmann, he was last traded as a top candidate for Chelsea.
The Blues are said to have had initial concrete talks with both coaches to talk about a commitment from the new season. By then, Frank Lampard, who was kicked out in 2021, has been re-signed. Both Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are therefore in direct competition with both London clubs.
