An armed forces commando allegedly raped and urinated on a young woman during a violent sexual assault after a night out, a lawsuit has learned.
Sam Evans, 28, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court where he denied several counts of rape and assault, as well as one count of intentionally strangling the woman.
The woman claims she suffered a prolonged sexual assault after agreeing to meet Evans for the first time at a Plymouth nightclub on the night of July 2 last year, having previously spoken on a dating app.
The court heard him tell the victim during the alleged attack in Evans’ motor home, “I love it when you keep telling me to stop.”
Prosecutor Daniel Pawson-Pounds described how the woman’s memory became blurry when she left the nightclub after drinking more than usual.
Armed Forces Commander Sam Evans, 28, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court where he denied several counts of rape and assault, as well as one count of deliberately strangling the woman
Her next memory apparently was of lying on Evans’ bed in his mobile home, which was identified by the photo on his dating app.
In an interview played to the jury, the woman stated that she realized her jeans were loose and claimed that Evans told her he loved her and had waited “months” for her to be in his bedroom – giving her a felt uncomfortable.
When she said she was leaving, Evans said Evans got aggressive and threw her on the bed and started touching her, the jury heard.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she was injured after Evans knelt on her chest to hold her down and claimed he punched and punched her in the head.
It was also heard that Evans allegedly urinated on the woman.
The court heard that the woman’s mother opened her front door around 10 a.m. on July 3 to find her in a confused state with a fat lip.
The woman’s mother persuaded her to go to the hospital later that day after she complained of pain in her collarbone and jaw and bruises on her face. The woman accused the man who dropped her off of strangling her.
Evans was later arrested on July 7 while driving his motor home on the A38 in Plymouth.
A search of the home found a false eyelash belonging to the prosecution, along with a box of unused condoms, a “ball with chain, strap and clamps,” a black whip, a black rope, a black vibrator and a black douche. all in a chest of drawers next to his bed.
The woman said: ‘I remember him punching me in the face and putting his hands right in front of my face – I desperately wanted him to stop because I didn’t know how far he was going to go. I thought “he’s going to go too far.”
“He called me a whore and spat in my face and in my eyes. I felt disoriented. I couldn’t see it – it was really aggressive.’ She said she tried to fight him and told him, “Please, that’s enough.”
After playing the video interview, the young woman gave evidence on the witness stand with a screen between her and Evans, who sat in the dock and appeared to cry at times.
The complainant spoke calmly. At one point, she began to sob when asked to watch footage of her injuries by Evans’ lawyer Michael Green.
Challenged by Mr Green that the sex was consensual, the woman said she suffered from a diagnosed medical urinary disorder that made any physical intimacy painful.
She said she was “definitely not” the kind of person who would go back to a man’s house for sex
She said Evans’s description of the sex as consensual was “100 percent false.”
Fighting back tears, she told the court, “That’s why I’m here. I don’t want what happened to me to happen to someone else. When I started to get a clearer picture, I had time to think.
“This could happen to someone else and that’s why I decided what happened wasn’t okay.”
Evans, from Devonport, Plymouth, denies all allegations. The process continues.
