Wil Anderson spoke Thursday about the cheeky prank he pulled on late actor Heath Ledger, which sparked a surprising “feud” between them.
The comedian, 50, appeared on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie and told the hosts the incident happened in 2003 when he interviewed Ledger on Triple J.
“Heath had just made the Ned Kelly movie and walked into our studio and it was like he was taken hostage,” Wil began.
Wil said Heath didn’t seem engaged throughout the interview, so he made a joke in an attempt to lighten the mood.
Unfortunately, Wil’s attempt at being funny didn’t sit well with The Dark Knight star.
“I was about to do a one-word interview. I’ve never been less excited to be on a radio interview.
“I thought I’d try to make a little joke, because he’s giving a serious actor’s speech about how he wanted to understand why Ned Kelly was so tortured.
I said, “Do you think it could just be because he always had really bad hair?” Wil joked.

However, Ledger did not appreciate Wil’s attempts at humor and quickly scolded the Triple J breakfast show host.
‘Heath says to me, “That’s not very funny, is it?” so I tell him I didn’t watch his movie 10 Things I Hate About You twice, mate. Which was a lie… because he had done it.’
Wil did not reveal whether he managed to reconcile with the late actor before his death in January 2008 from an accidental prescription drug overdose.

Wil has irritated several other celebrities throughout his career, and in 2022 he banned radio king Kyle Sandilands from appearing on his Wilosophy podcast.
He launched Wilosophy in 2014 and has since become one of Australia’s most popular podcasts, attracting major celebrity guests.
Wil told news.com.au he declined to interview Sandilands because he has a policy of not inviting people with their “own platforms and agenda” to his show.
