Janey Godley was given an honorary degree in the days before her death.
The comedian, who died on Saturday aged 63 after a battle with cancer, received the honor from the University of Glasgow while in her palliative care bed.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, her daughter Ashley Storrie revealed how proud she was of her mother and shared photos of the touching moment she received the certificate.
She wrote: ‘Thank you @UofGlasgow for awarding my mother the honorary degree of Doctor of the University of Glasgow.
‘This has brought him a lot of joy in the last moments of his life. Janey is very honored and I am immensely proud of her. I’m always proud of her.

The University of Glasgow responded: ‘It is an honor to award an honorary doctorate to the incredible Dr Godley. We send all our love and support to Janey and her family.”

The Scottish comedian’s management company confirmed she died “surrounded by her loved ones” on Saturday.

In a statement, Chris Davis Management said: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our client, Dr. Janey Godley, on November 2nd.
‘Janey died peacefully at the wonderful Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow surrounded by her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and many fans.
“She will be remembered for her legendary Nicola Sturgeon voiceovers during the pandemic, her hilarious and frank comedy, but most of all for just being Janey.”
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Ashley shared a touching video telling fans about her mother’s passing.
Her daughter revealed that receiving the honor gave Janey a lot of joy in the final moments of her life before adding that she was immensely proud of her mother.
Fans flocked to the comments section to congratulate Janey and share their love and best wishes for the family since hearing the tragic news.
Janey gained a following during lockdown with her online parody voiceovers accompanying images of politicians such as Nicola Sturgeon (pictured together at the Aye Write book festival in May last year).
In the video, he said: “My mother, Janey Godley, died this morning around 7. I was with friends and family and I wanted to tell you face to face because I felt very much what she would have wanted.”
“She left peacefully and I want to thank all the staff at Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and mum’s found family who were by her side during these last horrible days.
‘I want to thank you all for your kindness and support. I believe deep in my heart that she felt every bit of love you sent her. I think that kept her going. “We got her longer thanks to all the support and love.”
She ended the video with a tearful goodbye of ‘bye mom’.
