The late Australian comedian Cal Wilson will appear as a presenter on the upcoming series of The Great Australian Bake Off, which was filmed shortly before his death.

Wilson, who died in October after a long battle with an aggressive form of cancer, filmed episodes of the Foxtel show before his passing, which is set to air next month.

“Series seven holds a special place in our hearts. Cal’s death was a devastating blow to the Bake Off family,” said Foxtel staffer Wendy Moore.

“She is deeply missed by all of us who knew her. Her deep love for this program and her unique combination of charisma and kindness brightened the air every day.”

Moore added that Foxtel had the “full support” of Wilson’s family in ensuring her superb final season of Bake Off went ahead.

It is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, August 18, both on Foxtel and Binge.

Cal will return as host of the thrilling competitive cooking series, alongside British culinary expert Rachel Khoo and renowned Australian chef Darren Purchese.

Sadly, Wilson only filmed four episodes before her passing, so comedian Natalie Tran will take over hosting duties for the remainder of the series.

“This season is a tribute to his memory, the incredible talent of our bakers and the genuine camaraderie that makes the show so special,” Tran said in a statement.

New Zealand-born Wilson died on October 11 from a rare and aggressive cancer, just four weeks after being admitted to hospital with troubling lower back pain.

The Melbourne-based comedian is survived by her husband Chris Woods and 14-year-old son Digby.

Wilson was filming The Great Australian Bake Off for Foxtel in Sydney in September when she began to feel ill.

When she began to feel ill, she checked herself into hospital, her representative told Daily Mail Australia.
