Colts’ Zaire Franklin doubles down on Najee Harris criticism after middle finger gestures

Zaire Franklin is doubling down on Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris.

Franklin, who called Harris “soft” on social media following his 27-24 win over Harris and the Steelers, criticized Harris again on his podcast Wednesday.

“I don’t really know that guy personally. I wouldn’t say I have any personal feelings towards that guy, but what I will say is that he threw the double bird at our fans in the first place. That’s all I’m saying. That’s what I’m on. …You’re kidding my city. “This is where we are… If you come into my town and then you’re going to do that kind of performance, I’m going to talk about it.”

Harris was seen on screens at Lucas Oil Stadium riling up Colts fans before Sunday’s game. That didn’t sit well with Franklin, and presumably many other Colts fans. This is how Franklin responded on social media after the game.

While the gesture itself was one thing, Franklin hit Harris for not backing him up on the field in the three-point loss. Harris had just 19 rushing yards on 13 carries in the loss to Pittsburgh, and had another 54 receiving yards on three receptions. Harris, Franklin said, also frequently complained to officials.

“And then not going out and really being in some barking dog shit,” Franklin said. “You’re actually a little scary, you know what I mean? And the last three times we played him, he really abandoned (his team).”

Harris has 228 rushing yards and has yet to score a touchdown on 68 carries this season, his fourth with the Steelers. They will host the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday night in an attempt to improve to 4-1 so far this year.

Franklin had nine total tackles for the Colts, bringing him to 41 on the season. Their victory marked their second in a row after losing consecutive games at the start of the season. They will face the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday in Florida.
