A Georgia state senator was dramatically pushed to the ground and arrested after appearing in the state House chambers despite being banned.
Senator Colton Moore, a Republican, was barred from entering the House after making comments about the late House Speaker David Ralston.
On Thursday, during Governor Brian Kemp’s State of the State address, Moore tried to enter the room.
Footage shows his attempts were rebuffed as he was pushed to the ground before being arrested.
As he dusted himself off, Moore was heard telling state troopers and other officials that it was his constitutional right to be inside.
He said, “I have a duty to be in that room, representing 200,000 people in northwest Georgia who rightly chose me to be here today.
‘Unconstitutional, you have no respect for the constitution. Total disrespect for the constitution.”
Moore has a brief interaction with a state trooper, where he is told he is not allowed in, while group officers handcuff him.

Moore had said: “This body is about to continually memorialize one of the most corrupt Georgian leaders we will ever see in our lifetimes.”
Some of Ralston’s relatives and close supporters had been in the room at the time, watching from the Senate balcony.
His comments caused such an uproar that Lt. Governor Burt Jones cut Moore off, and he was subsequently banished from the chamber.
In a statement on his

Before that, he also shared a letter he shared with chairman Jon Burns on Wednesday, saying their ban was “unenforceable and invalid.”
Moore added that he was looking forward to the session, saying, “I will be there tomorrow as required by Georgian law.”

That revolved around his wanting to go after Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over her indictment of newly elected President Donald Trump.
Willis had sued the soon-to-be commander-in-chief for possible interference in the 2020 election.
Moore’s lawyer confirmed this Fox News that he is currently in the Fulton County Jail, where Trump had his infamous mugshot taken in 2023.
In a statement, Georgia Republican Party Chairman Josh McKoon said: “I am deeply disappointed that Senator Moore was denied entry and shocked that he was apparently arrested for attempting to attend today’s joint session after being physically assaulted .
“It was not only legally appropriate to admit him to today’s proceedings, it was simply the right thing to do.”
