Masters champion Scottie Scheffler arrives at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina

Masters champion Scottie Scheffler arrived at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina to play again on the PGA Tour just three days after his triumph at Augusta.

It means that the world number one has returned to leaving his heavily pregnant wife Meredith at their home in Texas. She will give birth any minute.

Scheffler was incredibly emotional after his second Masters victory on Sunday as he raced to quickly get home to his childhood love, who is pregnant with their first child.

‘I am coming home; I’ll be home as quickly as I can,” Scheffler said when asked if he had any message for his wife. ‘I love you and I’m coming home.’

But now he is back in the PGA Tour routine and will play at Harbor Town this week in one of the tour’s signature competitions.

It means the world No. 1 has returned to leaving his heavily pregnant wife Meredith at their home in Texas.

He will renew his rivalry with his closest Masters rivals Ludvig Aberg, Max Homa and Collin Morikawa, as well as the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland.

Footage released by the PGA Tour on Wednesday showed Scheffler joking with Justin Thomas before unleashing a powerful drive down the fairway.

Scheffler repeatedly insisted last week that she would leave The Masters, even if she were in the lead, if Meredith went into labor.

Fortunately, that never happened and Scottie won his second major tournament and collected the more than $3 million cash prize that came with it.

Scheffler was close to tears inside Butler Cabin on Sunday as he talked about his victory and the imminent arrival of his first child.

“I will definitely enjoy the birth of my first child and my priorities will change very soon, so golf will take fourth place, but I still love to compete,” he said.

“I don’t plan to stop paying attention to the ball anytime soon.”

He added: “I wish I could take this in a little more, but all I can think about is getting home.” You’re about to make me cry here at Butler Cabin. It’s a very, very special moment for both of us.

“I can’t put into words what it means to win this tournament again and I really can’t put into words what it will be like to be a father for the first time.

“I’m looking forward to getting home and celebrating with Meredith, it’s been a long week without her.”

Scheffler married Meredith, his high school sweetheart, in 2020, and the couple is expecting their first child any day now.

On Saturday, he revealed that he was “ready to leave at a moment’s notice” if Meredith went into labor or had any complications with her pregnancy.

He even found a way to stay connected to Meredith despite Augusta’s no-phone policy.

“We have someone here who has access to your cell phone,” he said Saturday. ‘We have open lines of communication and she can contact me if necessary.

“And yes, I will be available to come home whenever you need.”

Scheffler hopped on a private jet to return to his native Texas, but was later seen at a dive bar in Dallas celebrating his victory.

Now, it’s unclear if Scottie made a quick stop at home before heading out to celebrate, but there are several photos of him at this bar that circulated on social media.

That included photos of him wearing the iconic green jacket while standing with several people at Inwood Tavern.
