Police are searching for Joseph James Horohau Coombe, 34, after a man went to hospital with suspected gunshot wounds to both hands.

An urgent manhunt has been launched for a suspected gunman after a man was rushed to hospital with suspected gunshot wounds.

Western Australian Police are searching for Joseph James Horohau Coombe, 34, as part of their investigations into a firearms incident in Collie, in the state’s south-west, on Sunday.

Police were called at around 8.15am following reports a man had been shot on Clifton Street.

A man in his 30s attended Collie Hospital with “gunshot wounds to both hands,” a police spokesman said.

The severity of his injuries and his current condition are unknown.

“It is believed the incident involved people who knew each other and was not a random incident,” the spokesman said. The West.

Police have deployed extensive resources in their efforts to find Coombe.

Coombe is described as being 180cm tall, of medium build, with green eyes and fair skin.

Officers from the police’s tactical response group and air wing visited properties in Australind and Collie, locations police say they frequently visit.

Coombe remained at large as of early Monday morning.

The public has been warned not to approach him for fear he may still be armed.

“While this is being treated as a targeted incident, Mr Coombe may be armed with a firearm,” a police statement read.
