A New York college student remains in critical condition after being hit by a dirt bike in Albany.
Freshman Alexa Kropf, 18, was hit on Hudson Avenue in a hit-and-run collision shortly after midnight Saturday.
Officers were called to the scene and found Kropf “in the road with a serious head injury and a broken leg,” according to a statement from local police.
Kropf, of Long Island, was rushed to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she was placed in a medically induced coma.
He suffered two fractures in his right leg, fractures in his pelvis and has already undergone two brain surgeries.

Kropf was struck on Hudson Avenue in a hit-and-run collision shortly after midnight Saturday.
“Through further investigation, several witnesses stated that they observed a man riding an illegal dirt bike at a high rate of speed while weaving in and out of groups of people on the road,” Albany police said.
‘While driving at a high rate of speed, the suspect struck the victim, causing him to be thrown into the air and land on the road several feet away from the initial impact.
“The suspect fled the scene after striking the victim,” the statement added.
“Right now it’s pretty much hour to hour, not even day to day. It’s very disconcerting as a parent. “It’s a phone call no parent would want to receive…ever,” Kropf’s father told WRGB.
A GoFundMe page created by family friend Christine Loper has raised $60,000 for Kropf’s medical expenses and ongoing care needs.
“We are deeply concerned by the unconscionable depravity displayed by the driver of an illegally operated dirt bike toward an 18-year-old woman who was struck and seriously injured this morning in Pine Hills, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Police Chief of Albany, Eric Hawkins said in a joint statement.
Kropf, now in an induced coma, suffered two fractures in his right leg, fractures in his pelvis and has already undergone two brain surgeries.
“Our thoughts are with the victim and his family at this difficult time.”
Police believe “the individual used an illegal vehicle as a weapon against innocent civilians” and are strongly urging anyone with information to get in touch.
It is illegal to operate all-terrain vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes, on any street or sidewalk, or in any public park in the City of Albany.
