CNY Central sportscaster Ashley Wenskoski was likely preparing to ask questions during a post-game press conference on Saturday when she was asked instead by a college football mascot.
During the fourth quarter of Syracuse’s win over then-No. 6 Miami on Saturday, Wenskoski received a date offer from Sebastian the Ibis, the mascot of the Hurricanes’ football team.
Wenskoski, 24, posted on social media about the bizarre situation before the scoreboard read only zeros.
“Sebastian the Ibis (Miami’s mascot) just knelt down and asked for my number mid-ride,” Wenskoski posted to the Dome… but who am I to say that.’
Wenskoski appeared to decline the offer from Sebastian, or anyone else in the costume, according to an Orange fan on X.
“I’m pretty sure I saw the aftermath of you getting out of there, or some other scenario where it looked like he gave the ‘aww come on’ hand. Cringe,” the fan said.

Wenskoski has not posted again about the situation and is taking it to heart.
Sebastian absolutely went for it, joke or not, with the bravado that you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t make.
Others on social media wanted to pick up where Sebastian left off.
“This guy…you’re not on the right team. Take a number too, my friend, everyone wants to date Ashley. She is the No. 1 recruiting target – she can replace Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson!” said one Syracuse fan.
Wenskoski is a 24-year-old sportscaster for CNY Central covering the Syracuse Orange
Wenskoski seems to have more social media suitors than Sebastian’s attempts to date her
Wenskoski also hosts a New York Mets podcast and is himself an alumnus of Syracuse University
The win for Clemson was monumental, sending Miami out of the Atlantic Coast Conference title game and putting Clemson back in the College Football Playoff picture after a loss to South Carolina.
Syracuse earned its ninth win of the season for the first time since 2018, with former Ohio State starter Kyle McCord leading the charge.
It was the first win over a top-10 team for Syracuse since losing to Clemson in 2017.
And for Miami, it will be a long wait to see if it makes the CFP while taking losses both on and off the field.
