Football fans are rallying behind broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit after the former quarterback shared a troubling update about a member of his family.

Herbstreit’s golden retriever, Ben, has had leukemia since March, and the pup, who often travels with the football analyst, was unable to accompany him on the trip earlier this week after his latest round of treatment.

And after Herbstreit posted a video Announcing that news and showing off the beautiful gestures his hotel made for Ben, fans offered their best wishes online.

‘We all love Ben. I hope we can see him soon!’ said one fan on X.

‘I can hear you holding back tears at the end. “Prayers for Ben!” added a second.

Kirk Herbstreit announced earlier this week that his dog, Ben, did not travel with him to California after his latest treatment for leukemia.

The hotel put a bed in Herbstreit's room for Ben.

They also had 15 people sign a card for the puppy.

The Ritz-Carlton in Marina Del Rey, California, expected Ben to come and decorate the room for him, even leaving a card signed by a staff member.

‘Ben is America’s pup. We love him,” said a third.

And a fourth wrote: ‘Praying for Ben to have a full and complete healing. How comforting to see God use it for so much joy in the world! Thank you for sharing it with us.’

The Ritz-Carlton in Marina Del Rey, California, expected Herbstreit to bring Ben before calling Thursday night’s Vikings-Rams football game.

And the hotel went the extra mile for the pet, placing a dog bed in the room with toys and even signing a card for the pup.

Herbstreit thanked the hotel for its kindness and sounded like he was getting emotional in the video he posted of the room.

However, Saturday brought a much happier atmosphere as Ben was able to travel with Herbstreit to ESPN’s College GameDay in Bloomington for Indiana’s clash with Washington.

Herbstreit posted several photos of the pup from the Indiana campus, one of which adorably showed him with a Washington badge around his neck.

Herbstreit also received a personalized Indiana jersey, over which someone held up a Ben sticker.

The dog even hilariously crashed onto the SportsCenter set early in the morning, making Herbstreit smile.

It’s unclear where College GameDay will be held next weekend, but hopefully Ben will be able to travel.
