Shopper Adriana was so excited about the new Smeg range that she couldn't resist purchasing the knife block in both colours.

Coles shoppers are racing to get their hands on Smeg’s luxury knife range, valued at more than $800.

The supermarket chain has launched a high-end brand seven-piece stainless steel knife block set, and customers can use points to collect the items separately.

Shoppers can earn ‘one kitchen knife credit’ for every $20 they spend in a single transaction through January 21, 2025.

Simply scan your Flybuys card and redeem your credits for a free Smeg knife, or use half the credits and pay the rest at checkout in store or when placing your order online.

The Smeg knife block, available in cream and black, can be redeemed using half credits and half payment, or purchased outright for $100.

Those who can’t wait to collect all the points can purchase the entire knife block in one go for $292, which is much cheaper than the original price.

But if you don’t need the full set, the stainless steel knives are sold separately, ranging in price from $20 to $40 each.

Shopper Adriana was so excited about the new Smeg range from Coles that she couldn’t resist buying the knife block in both colours.

“You don’t understand the way I ran to Coles to get this Smeg knife block,” he said in a video that has now gone viral.

“I bought the cream and black because I couldn’t decide which color to buy. I didn’t want to wait for points, and it’s cheaper than what I found online. I don’t regret it.”

Adriana ended up using the block to display her own knives, but planned to use the credits she collected over the next few months to purchase Smeg knives.

Many were amazed by the new Smeg collection at Coles, with one suggesting: “Honestly, it’s a steal. At one point they were selling for around $800 a set.”

To get a free vegetable knife, you need to collect 20 credits, which means buyers have to spend up to $400 on groceries.

The bread knife is worth 36 credits, meaning buyers would have to spend $720 at checkout to get the points they need, or buy it outright for $36.

Many revealed that they were happy to wait until they had collected enough credits to get the set for free.

“Shop at Coles and in January you can easily get all the knives with just Flybuys points. There’s no point in paying for them,” said one.

Adriana currently uses the Smeg block to display her own knives at home.

The credits you need to collect the Smeg knives

Vegetable knife (8 cm): 20 credits or $20

Utility Knife (13cm): 26 credits or $26

Steak Knife (15cm): 30 credits or $30

Santoku knife (18 cm): 40 credits or $40

Bread Knife (19cm): 36 credits or $36

Chef’s Knife (19cm): 40 credits or $40

Knife Block: 50 credits + $50 payment or $100 total payment

For Smeg fans, many suggested that it was better to buy the product directly.

“If you do the math, you’d have to spend $5,000 at Coles to earn enough points to buy them all, or just buy them at Coles for about $290,” one shopper said.

Adriana agreed, saying, “If you love them enough, buy them. If you’re going to spend that money in the next three or four months, then use points.”

However, some loyal customers have revealed a simple method to earn points faster, without having to shell out hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

“You need to work the system, buy the bonus items, it’s quite possible to get 10 credits for every $40,” one buyer shared.

‘For example, all of these have an extra credit: MasterFoods spices $1.90, Colgate toothpaste $2, Mount Franklin sparkling water $2 and Coles best orange juice $2.

‘But only one credit per brand, per store. If you buy more than one item, split them into $20 transactions. I love these promotions.’

Customers can earn an additional credit when they purchase a select product from participating brands including Barilla, Colgate, Fairy and more.
