A Coles store has been accused of sexism after a customer noticed that laundry detergent and sanitary towels were moved to the Mother’s Day gift section.

The eagle-eyed shopper took a photo of the shelves on Monday, which were filled with slippers, fleece blankets and storage cups.

In a post on Facebook, she complained that the discounted Cold Power was included in the section, which was for annual Mother’s Day celebrations.

“Washing power. In the Mother’s Day section, “the woman wrote.

“Are you kidding me, Coles?”

A viewer noted that Libra and U were also stored on the shelf by Kotex sanitary napkins.

“And pillows like your mother wants some pillows for Mother’s Day,” the viewer wrote.

Another viewer wrote, “Bet it’s not for Father’s Day.”

Some Facebook users managed to crack a joke about the sight.

“So if Mommy is in the store to buy her own Mother’s Day press, she can grab the most important things while doing it,” one of them wrote.

It is clear that the photo was taken the day after Mother’s Day.

Coles are known to change displays quickly after an event such as Easter or Christmas.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Coles for comment.
