Cody Simpson has shared a heartfelt tribute to his teammate Emma McKeon after she became the country’s most prolific gold medallist at the Paris Olympics.
The 30-year-old’s victory in the 4x100m freestyle relay on the first night in the pool gave McKeon six golds, one ahead of legend Ian Thorpe.
Simpson, 27, who almost qualified for the Games, took to Instagram on Tuesday to cheer on Emma’s success.
Cody shared a photo of himself alongside his girlfriend as she held her gold medal next to a display case of her other medals from the 2024 games.
Both Cody and Emma were smiling in the photo, with Cody wearing a white T-shirt and cream chinos and his girlfriend wearing Aussie gold and green.
In the caption, she shared her pride in her achievements and said it was a “privilege” to see her success.
“Golden girl. Emma, having a place to watch you compete and complete your Olympic career with such grace and power was a privilege,” Cody wrote.
“You inspire me immensely and it’s an honour to be your man! I’m hitting and I know it so I’m glad you haven’t realised it yet,” he added, suggesting Emma was out of his league.

This comes as Cody, who accompanied his partner to Paris to support her, was seen beaming on live television after his first big win at the games.
“We’re all proud of her,” Simpson told Nine after Emma’s first gold medal.
“She will say it with great humility. She will never say it, but what she has done is very special.

“It’s amazing. He swam very fast this morning. He really wanted to be in the final and get on the podium.
“I’m very proud of her for having achieved this.”
Following the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, Emma has now won 14 Olympic medals since 2016.
McKeon announced his intention to retire after the games ended last week.
The couple made their relationship Instagram official in July 2022, three months after they began secretly dating.
Last year, Emma and Cody celebrated by purchasing their first home together.
The couple spent $1.826 million on a family love nest on the Gold Coast, proving that their romance that blossomed during training for the 2022 Commonwealth Games has become quite serious.
