CoD Modern Warfare 2 is selling 14-year-old sound effects and fans are divided – WhatsNew2Day

Date:

Activision is selling a pack of legacy sound effects for CoD Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 wants to deepen the gold mine: During Season 3, a new bundle appears in the in-game shop that pushes the nostalgic buttons hard. It’s called The Throwback Pack: ’09 Weapon Audio Bundle.

Anyone who buys the package can use it on certain weapons the original sounds from CoD Modern Warfare 2 from 2009. They don’t sound nearly as sophisticated and powerful as in the new part of the series, but they should bring back pleasant memories, especially for veterans of the series.

Not surprisingly, players in the community have mixed reactions to the announcement. Some are happy, others accuse Activision of to enrich with nostalgia.

The entire spectrum of reactions can be found under one post on Reddit:

The best rated comment by user BelieveInTheEchelon only asks whether the new season 3 sniper rifle FJX Imperium, which was called Intervention in the old game, is included in the package. Here the anticipation or hope prevails, again that noise to hear what was then burned into the young synapses.

Another comment It is rather confusing that old sounds are also monetized:

So now they’re selling in-game sounds.

Another users don’t like the offer at all:

Honestly, I don’t like that. That’s the definition of getting rich on nostalgia. This should be an in-game setting, not hidden behind a package.

Other users are busy discussing the pros and cons of re-issuing the old sounds in Call of Duty for a purchase price.

how do you see it? Do you think the offer is okay because it’s optional or is the monetization going too far for you? Feel free to write your opinion in the comments.
