Coco Gauff posted an inspiring message when a photo surfaced of herself watching Venus Williams in action.
On Thursday, an Instagram fan page called ‘Cocogauff.fans’ reposted an image shared by X user @Isaac_Williams2. The streamed screenshot was from the first round of the 2012 US Open when Williams faced Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
In the back, a young Gauff wore a white shirt and a dark blue hat as she cheered. The 20-year-old reposted the story, amazed that someone found the clip.
“Wowwwwwww, there’s no way anyone found this,” Gauff wrote. ‘That’s me watching Venus at the US Open. [I] I didn’t even know that television caught me in the stands. Whoever found this, I thank you, my goodness.
“THIS IS CRAZY,” he continued. ‘Time flies. I was definitely (definitely) looking at the jumbotron to see if the camera would show me, lol. Thanks for sharing.’

Gauff was surprised that someone found the clip and shared it on their social media.
Seven years later (2020), Gauff played Williams at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
In X and later on her Instagram Story, Gauff acknowledged the journey she took from being in the stands to becoming one of the biggest stars in tennis.
“If this isn’t proof that your dreams are closer than you think, I don’t know what is,” Gauff wrote.
‘Seven years later, I played it. And then 11 years later, I won. Life is crazy. Whoever found this photo, wow, thank you.”
Gauff is currently ranked third in the WTA behind Iga Świątek and Aryna Sabalenka.
In addition to winning the US Open in 2023, Gauff has seven titles and a record of 190-85. Unfortunately, her last performance ended in a loss in the round of 16 of the Miami Open against Caroline Garcia.
