‘Cocaine Cassie’ Sainsbury has shared an emotional post on social media on the seventh anniversary of her arrest at a Colombian airport.
Sainsbury, now 29 and living in Adelaide, shared a video of herself with tears streaming down her face with the caption: “Definitely not my favorite time of year.” “Seven Easters later and it still feels like yesterday.”
The then 22-year-old was arrested. at the El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, a few days before Easter 2017, with 5.8 kg of cocaine inside 18 pairs of headphones in a box.

Speaking to Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie last year, Sainsbury revealed she was frequently attacked while in prison.
“I received a lot of beatings. They beat me a lot. They stabbed me. I received two stab marks on my arms where I was stabbed. I went through a lot of things that I would never wish on anyone,” she said.
‘Obviously being the gringa (a Spanish insult meaning foreign woman) in a Spanish prison, it just draws the attention of you know, rich white girl. I need to, I guess, intimidate her until that’s it.
Now back in Australia, Sainsbury has continued to maintain a social media presence and sell exercise programs.
In 2023, he appeared on the reality show SAS Australia, but quit in the second episode.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph following his departure from the show, Sainsbury said he has struggled to find work since returning to Australia.
‘I have applied for everything: work in a gym, administration, hospitality and cleaning. “There’s always something that comes up that’s not likely to go forward,” he said.
“I don’t want special treatment, I don’t want to be the center of attention, I just want a normal life: a nine-to-five job, an eight-to-six job, just an everyday job, but I keep getting rejected.”
However, Sainsbury has found love with his wife. Tatiana, who is a computer technician.
The couple met at a Colombian nightclub in 2021 and got married in a Beachside ceremony in Colombia in early 2022.
