CNN is bringing back the interview series Who’s talking to Chris Wallace for a fourth season, but this time the show is exclusive to the streaming platform Max.
New episodes will be available to stream on CNN Max, the streaming news hub within the Max platform. The episodes will be released on Fridays, starting with an interview with director Oliver Stone, which debuts on September 29. Other guests booked for the new season include musician Jon Batiste, sportscaster Al Michaels and financial guru Suze Orman.
Wallace left Fox News at the end of 2021 to join CNN+, the first time the cable news channel turned to a streaming service, and the first season of his show debuted on the streaming platform before it was ignominiously canceled after just a month.
The program returned later that year, but with a twist: the full interviews would be streamed on HBO Max, while also being reduced to an hour-long program that would air on CNN on Sunday evenings. That format continued with the third season, which debuted earlier this year (though the CNN program moved to Friday nights).
Now the program will be another streaming service exclusive launch, but this time it’s for the CNN Max offering, which launches in beta on September 27.
That said, Wallace will not be leaving CNN’s linear channel. CNN announced an overhaul of its lineup in August, with Wallace set to host a new 10 a.m. Saturday morning program called The Chris Wallace Show. Featuring “sharp commentary and energetic discussions, the weekly program will make sense of the latest news and developments in the 2024 presidential race and set the agenda moving forward,” CNN says.
“It’s been exciting to bring in such a wide range of guests for thought-provoking conversations over our first three seasons, and our fourth will be no different,” Wallace said in a statement. “I’m also looking forward to taking away The Chris Wallace Show to CNN, with some of the most astute commentators and columnists. As we head into another crucial election cycle, nothing is off limits as we address the key issues facing the country.”
