A CNN employee has been caught describing the network’s tactics as ‘propaganda’ in hidden camera footage released by Project Veritas

CNN technical director Charlie Chester was caught in the embarrassing footage after a woman working with the conservative watchdog group saw him on Tinder, where he mentioned his employer, Mediaite reported.

Look what we did, we got Trump out. I’m going to say it 100 percent, and I believe 100 percent that if it weren’t for CNN, I don’t know Trump would have been voted out, ” Chester said in the video. “I came to CNN because I wanted to be a part of it.”

As if our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, wasn’t it? So our next thing will be climate change awareness, ‘Chester said in another clip.

As technical director, Chester manages video editing equipment for the cable network, where he has worked since 2018, according to his now-deleted LinkedIn bio.

It is unlikely that he would have had editorial input at CNN, or participated in the network’s daily editorial calls. But Project Veritas argues that he has unique insights into the editorial culture at CNN, which he would be immersed in on a daily basis.

While Chester’s video clips contain only excerpts from his comments, they provide enough context to make it clear that the general thrust of his comments was not conceived by editing.

A CNN source told Mediaite that Project Veritas found Chester through the dating app Tinder, bragging about his work for CNN. A Veritas employee who claimed to be a nurse matched him up and met him on several dates.

The clips released by Project Veritas show Chester describing an openly partisan editorial culture aimed at boosting Joe Biden and harming Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

Chester used the term “ propaganda ” when describing how the network encompassed Trump’s health compared to Biden’s health.

[Trump’s] hand was shaking or something I guess. We’ve brought in so many medical people to tell a story that was all speculation – that he was neurologically damaged and that he lost it. He’s unfit to… you know, whatever, ”Chester said.

‘We were making a story there that we didn’t know about. That’s what – I think that’s propaganda, ”he continued.

In another clip, the woman who works with Project Veritas, who cannot be identified from the video, says, “I think I have a confession. I’m concerned about Biden and his health, I think. ‘

Chester apparently misunderstands and replies, “Your news health?”

‘What? No, I said Biden, our president, ”she replies.

“Oh, his health,” says Chester.

“I want to take care of him and make sure he’s okay,” she continues.

He’s absolutely – the whole thing he runs all the time – like a run for the campaign. Giving him a jog is clearly a distraction from his age and they try to make it say, ‘Oh, I’m healthy,’ Chester said.

The woman replied, ‘Is that what we have done? I do not know. Like what do you mean? ‘

‘We always showed pictures of him [Biden] jogging and that [he’s] healthy, you know, and him in aviator curtains. Like painting him like a young old man, ”Chester said.

In another clip, Chester said there is ‘fatigue’ for stories about the coronavirus pandemic, and that CNN is looking for new stories to ‘stick with’.

“They have already announced in our office that once the public is open to it, we will focus primarily on the climate,” he said.

‘Pandemic story that we kill to death, but that has a long life. You know what I mean? As if the pandemic has finally come to an end. It will decrease to a point where it is no longer a problem. Climate change could take years, so they could probably milk that quite a bit, ‘he said.

“So climate change overload,” the woman replied.

‘Be prepared, it is coming. Climate change will be the next COVID thing for CNN, ”Chester said.

O’Keefe, who founded Project Veritas in 2011, told Mediaite of his group’s hidden camera tactics: “If the goal of the press is to tell the truth to the public, circumstances may arise that require undercover techniques.”

He also defended the decision to report on the comments of a technical director, saying, “As a technical director, Charlie Chester is fully involved in the day-to-day running of the CNN Newsroom.”

“He is a witness to the decisions that are made and from whom they come. He has full access to the culture within the network and explains on video how company-wide guidelines are implemented. ‘
