CNN star Ana Navarro says Latino voters who support Trump have a 'very stupid' attitude

  • Navarro criticized Trump’s Latino fans, saying their stance on immigration is ‘very stupid’
  • He argued how some Latino immigrants forget their own origins.
  • He highlighted the irony of Trump’s rhetoric, which demonizes immigrants despite his diverse support base.

CNN’s Ana Navarro has criticized other Latinos who support Donald Trump, calling their attitudes toward immigration “very stupid.”

Navarro suggested that some Latino immigrants seem to forget their own immigrant roots and mistakenly believe that being anti-immigrant will help them better assimilate into American society.

Speaking on CNN Friday night, Navarro expressed frustration with that mentality, saying it only serves to highlight how it contributes to a divisive atmosphere.

‘There are some Latino immigrants who forget that they came here as immigrants and who want to close the door behind them, and who think that being anti-immigrant will somehow make them pass as more American, pass as whatever. And that’s a very stupid attitude.”

Navarro cited a 2019 mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, where a gunman targeted Hispanics, to underscore his point.

He emphasized that when racists attack Latinos, they don’t care about their immigration status or accent and simply see them as part of a group they despise.

‘What people don’t realize is that when the guy drives thousands of miles to hunt down Latinos at a Walmart in Texas, he doesn’t care when you got here. He doesn’t care what your accent is,’ Navarro said.

‘What you’re looking for is, does it look like me, does it sound like me? That’s what you’re looking for. So, you know, when people are against something, they don’t ask you for the documents, they’re just against that group.

The former Republican strategist, known for her harsh criticism of the Republican Party, argued that Latino support for anti-immigrant rhetoric is misguided.

The conversation on CNN came after a pro-Trump rally in the Bronx, New York, which has historically been a Democratic stronghold.

Local media suggested between 8,000 and 10,000 people attended, but the Trump campaign put their numbers at more than 25,000.

The event attracted a diverse crowd, including many Black and Latino Americans concerned about illegal immigration, crime and inflation under President Biden.

Despite the diversity of the crowd, Trump continued to unleash his harsh rhetoric on immigration, which both Navarro and CNN anchor Jim Acosta condemned as inflammatory and divisive.

“(Trump is) using inflammatory rhetoric to demonize immigrants during his appeal to black and Hispanic voters,” Acosta said.

At one point, Trump claimed that illegal immigration was causing rape, abuse and the spread of disease. He finally saw the crowd shouting ‘send them back!’

Rising Latino and African American support for Trump could pose a challenge to Biden’s re-election campaign.

Navarro expressed frustration that many people overlook Trump’s racist and misogynistic behavior, seeing it as part of his personality rather than recognizing its harmful impact on society.

“People already know the guy is a misogynist, they already know he’s racist, they already know he says divisive things and they don’t seem to take him literally or seriously,” Navarro said. “They think he’s part of a clown show.”

Navarro, who is outspoken in her opposition to Trump and frequently advocates for Democratic candidates, said she believes the apparent rise in support for Trump among that demographic is partly due to the public’s tendency to dismiss Trump’s controversial comments as mere entertainment, rather than taking them seriously. .
