Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign faces a historic problem, a CNN election guru said Friday, pointing out how few voters think the United States is on the right path under her leadership.
The surprising admission came during a segment in which CNN journalist Harry Enten showed host John Berman a recent poll that found that only a small portion of respondents believe the United States is on the right path.
“If we look at whether voters think we’re on the right path or the wrong path, I think this poses a problem for Kamala Harris’ campaign,” Enten said. “Only 28 percent of Americans believe the United States is on the right path.”
After analyzing the results of the Cook Political Report poll, the CNN journalist dropped a bombshell on Harris’ electoral chances: “The bottom line is that she looks more like a loser than a winner.”
CNN journalist Harry Enten warned that Kamala Harris’ campaign has some historically bad numbers on whether voters believe the country is on the right path.

Their analysis examined past voter sentiment before successful presidential campaigns.
It found that no presidential party since at least 1980 has won a second term and so few Americans believe the country is on the right path.
“So there is no historical precedent for the White House Party to win another term in the White House when only 28 percent of the country thinks we are on the right path,” Enten told Berman.
“John, in short, would have no historical precedent.”
Enten then explained how previous successful campaigns have seen much higher numbers indicating voters believe the country is on the right path.
Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris speaks during an event at the Redford Township Fire Department North Station in Redford Township, Michigan, on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024.
Former President Donald Trump, Republican presidential candidate, speaks to reporters as he arrives at Augusta Regional Airport to visit areas affected by Hurricane Helene, Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, in Augusta, Georgia.
“Look throughout history, right – ’96, ’88, ’04, ’12, ’84 – in all of these cases, in all of these cases, well over 28 percent thought the country was on the way right,” he said. The CNN journalist said.
“Thirty-nine was the lowest in 1996. We got over 47% in 1984, of course, that was a blowout, right, for Ronald Reagan.”
And the indication that Harris’ campaign is struggling is also represented in DailyMail.com’s latest election analysis.
A series of recent polls have shown Donald Trump leading in key battleground states.
When the data is run through our DailyMail.com/JL Partners model, it shows that the former president won in 56.7 percent of simulations.
It means that overall Trump is up to a 13-point lead from just five points earlier in the week.

To be clear, this is not like a survey advantage.
Instead, it shows how often Trump wins the electoral college when our model analyzes the thousands of possible permutations of states using the latest available data (along with decades of election results combined with economic data).
