When asked if she expected the film to become such a cult classic, Elisa replied: “I can say no unequivocally, I didn’t expect that.”
“But I mean, we were sure something magical was going on. It seemed like all the pieces fit together, and everyone was just really on top of their game, so we kind of knew it was going to be a success,” she added.
“But I don’t think we thought we’d be quoted on the street today.”

After appearing in the Clueless movie, Elisa reprized her character in the spin-off TV series of the same name, which aired for three seasons from 1996 to 1999.
She starred in the popular teen sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch as Morgan and played one of Sabrina’s roommates.
During her interview, Elisa praised her Sabrina co-star Melissa Joan Heart (who played the show’s titular role), describing the actress as “inclusive, super fun and very smart.”

Elisa also created her new memoir Wake Me Up When You Leave, which lifts the lid on a number of personal tragedies — including Sabrina’s cancellation, losing her relationship, and her father’s death from cancer.
“My life was turned upside down,” she told Today Extra.
“From a clear understanding of who I was, where I was going and what was happening, I proceeded to do everything that was systematically taken away.”

Elisa said she used writing as a way to work through the grief that marred her formative years in the film industry.
“I’ve always been a writer and that’s always been a way to express my creativity and also to heal and work things through,” she said.
Despite the “depressing” circumstances that inspired her memoir, Elisa insisted that the book itself was actually “very funny” and positive.
“I really hope this book is a hopeful book for people, and that it really shows people that we can get through challenges and get to the other side and these things can improve our lives,” she said.
