Kamala Harris’s senior adviser says the presidential candidate is “too busy” to give media interviews, despite warnings that her silence is hurting her campaign.
The vice president’s senior adviser, Keisha Lance Bottoms, was recently questioned by CNN about how the vice president has not been “sitting down for regular interviews or answering questions from the press,” particularly in comparison to his Republican rival, Donald Trump.
Former Atlanta mayor Lance Bottoms said Harris “has been giving interviews,” adding that “she’s a very busy person. She’s vice president and also a candidate.”
Harris appears to be copying Joe Biden’s model by letting Donald Trump do the talking in the hope that his often controversial outbursts will deter undecided voters.
But even liberal media outlets have warned that Harris’s unwillingness to be challenged on policies and plans is hurting her among those same voters.

Several media outlets have criticized Harris and Walz for dodging the media, with onlookers claiming she has been more insular in the early months of her campaign than President Biden has been in the latter months of his.
Some Democrats have openly called for the electoral ticket to better present its candidates. Many, including liberal media, have warned the presidential candidate that her lack of clarity in her political positions is harming her chances against her Republican rival.

Harris’ campaign has promised more local and national media appearances in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Trump has conducted regular, lengthy interviews with a wide variety of media outlets.
He is a frequent guest on Fox News, but also subjects himself to hostile questions from other media outlets at press conferences.
