A ‘family man’ who was brutally stabbed to death in front of his wife celebrated her 37th birthday in a country pub before the mind-boggling attack unfolded.
Clint Allen, 38, his wife Bek and three others were outside The Criterion Hotel in Sale, Victoria, about 200km east of Melbourne, in the early hours of Sunday morning when they were approached by an ‘unidentified’ knife man.
The group frantically called police around 1am when officers arrived to find Mr Allen seriously injured at the York-MacAlister junction.
Despite desperate efforts to resuscitate Mr Allen while he waited for paramedics to arrive, he could not be saved.
Detectives do not know at this time why Mr. Allen was attacked.

His devastated family said he just walked home after going out.
His distraught stepdaughter, Makala Lister, who is six weeks pregnant, said the beloved BMX champion and an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, dirt bikes and 4WDs will be sorely missed.
“Clint was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather to his unborn granddaughter,” she told the Announce sun.
“He was loved by everyone who met him and was always up for a chat about any subject.”
“He will forever be missed and loved by everyone he came into contact with.”

A resident of Sale said the town’s main street is no longer safe at night and that he was also threatened with a knife recently.
“I was walking home from work at 11pm last night and there were lunatics swearing and waving knives at me in Raymond St by the banks,” Tez Leeson said on social media.
A police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday that no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing, but that “the investigation is still ongoing.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has more information is urged to contact police.
