Cliff Richard goes topless at 80 (sort of) for his calendar

Cliff Richard goes topless at age 80 (sort of): Singer told fans his days of posing shirtless for his calendar were over, but it looks like he’s changed his mind

He told his fans last year that at the age of 80, his days of going topless on his annual calendar were probably over.

If the 2022 version has anything to offer though, it looks like Sir Cliff Richard has changed his mind.

August’s image offers a glimpse of the popular singer wearing a swimsuit and raising a glass to the camera as he takes a dip in a pool.

The shirtless shot may come as a surprise to those reading his autobiography, The Dreamer, which was released last October.

“I guess I took my last topless photo for my annual calendar,” he wrote. “I guess it’s time to gracefully exit Chippendales Market.”

He’s clearly not ready to give up his pin-up status just yet, but yesterday he released the first look at his official 2022 calendar, featuring 12 new photos of him in a number of poses.

For the February photo, Sir Cliff embraces his inner rocker by posing in a leather jacket with a red electric guitar.

He’s clearly not ready to give up his pin-up status just yet, but yesterday he released the first look at his official calendar for 2022.

For the month of May he can be seen rowing on a lake and for December he poses in a vest in front of a fire, with a present in hand.

The calendar was mostly shot in New York City earlier this year, with one of the photos taken in Barbados.

A representative for Sir Cliff said: “Given the global pandemic, the formal plans for the annual calendar recording were changed to a more journalistic stance from a Brit in the US who found picturesque spots in the Central Park area and nearby. Sir Cliff loved the casual atmosphere of the shoot.’

More than 1.5 million Sir Cliff calendars have been sold since the first came out in 1979.

In the decades since he has delighted fans around the world with a range of poses in a number of exotic locations, including sunbathing on a lilo in Barbados, riding a jet ski and sitting atop a cannon.

But in 2013, he hinted that he might be ready to end the tradition, claiming it was too much “busy.”

He told chat show host Graham Norton that his 35th would be his last.

“I think the reason the rumors are going around that I’m not going to do it anymore is probably because it’s true,” he said.

Sir Cliff, who had his first hit with Move It in 1958, has an estimated net worth of £80 million. He will be 81 on October 14.
