Wright said she only turned away from her son’s gaze because she saw two orangutans on top of each other in the exhibit.

“The orangutans were jumping on each other,” she said.

While waiting for an employee to grab the bottle, she began recording the orangutan’s reaction to the object, which amazed onlookers.

The video showed the orangutan’s determination to retrieve the bottle from the pond as zoo visitors watched, laughed and clapped in the background.

The animal originally tried to grab the bottle with its long hairy arms before rushing to grab the cardboard.

After the successful attempt, he also appeared to enjoy the apple juice that was filled in the bottle.

The year-old didn’t seem to mind sharing his juice and applauded with everyone else, Wright said.

Wright called the zoo days later to check on the orangutan. Employees told her that the animal had to be monitored for a few days because it had been drinking the apple juice.

“They had to put the orangutan in for observation and she’s doing great,” Wright said. confirmed. “She wasn’t sick or anything, but it’s just their protocol because she caught something strange that wasn’t part of her diet.”

TikToks was in disbelief at how the orangutan reacted to the bottle and praised his response.

“That orangutan is officially more resourceful than me,” one person wrote.

“Orangutans are easily some of the smartest animals out there,” added another. “They deserve to keep that bottle after work.”
