Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney was the victim of an election mishap that briefly prevented him from casting his vote in the presidential election.
Swinney, who is preparing for this weekend’s game against Virginia Tech, went to the polls Tuesday to weigh in on the battle between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
But when the football coach arrived, he was told he couldn’t vote. Swinney wondered if it was a result of last week’s loss to Louisville.
‘I tried to do the best I could and vote this morning (and) they told me I couldn’t vote. That was quite an experience,’ he said.
‘(I thought) Damn. They expelled me from the state. We lost a game. We’re 6-2 and 5-1 (in the conference). They already sent me away,” he joked.

But Swinney soon discovered that there had, in fact, been a clerical error involving his son.
‘Turns out Will, my oldest son, voted last week, and they somehow screwed it up, didn’t check his birthday or something, and counted me as the vote. So, what was going to take 10 minutes, took an hour,” the coach explained, according to Fox.
‘He said I already voted. And I said: “No, I assure you that I have not voted.”
Swinney claimed he had to fill out a paper ballot before a hearing Friday to resolve the issue.
“This morning was quite an experience. But apparently they’ll fix it on Friday, and Will and I (our two votes) will count on Friday,” he explained.
‘I don’t know if it will matter on Friday. Trying to do the best I can and be a good citizen and go vote, and sometimes doing the best I can is not enough.’
