She said that if your drains are regularly clogged, there is “a bigger problem at play” that you need to look at.
‘listen to me. Everyone I know uses this old wives’ tale regularly, Cassie said.
If you use vinegar and baking soda because you think it will loosen any grease or oil in the drain, it won’t.
“There are no softeners in this formula, which means you’re only making salty water when you mix these two.”
It would be best for you, the cleaner added, to “put water and detergent down the drain to get the oil moving.”

“If you’re using vinegar and baking soda because you think it’s going to dissolve any grease or oil in the drain, it won’t,” Casey said. This is because “there are no antiseptics in the formula”
Kacie said some people with this technique use it because they think it will create a chemical reaction that loosens the blockage.
But that would only be the case if “you are able to close off the drain, allowing this to exist within an enclosed space so that pressure can build up”.
“You can’t do that with the gutter, and so you get a half-a** reaction which means that what’s most likely going on is part of the bicarb that’s in the gutter – causing even more clogging.”

The cleaner admitted that you’d be better off using a kettle of boiling water and some dishwashing liquid to get rid of the blockage
If your exchange gets blocked frequently, Kacie said you have two options.
You can either unscrew the pipes to clean them yourself or you can call a plumber and find out what is blocking them and have the pipes professionally cleaned.
Thousands of people who watched the video were quick to thank the cleaner for sharing it.
Thanks for sharing this! Many people use bicarb and vinegar together, not realizing it does nothing,” one wrote.
Another added: “Absolutely ok! I tried it and it did nothing. Much better, as I said, to look at what the problem is and then work a solution which is usually a plumber which in the end costs a lot less before you have a big problem.”
Others have shared their own solutions, including pouring an entire kettle of boiling water down the drain to unclog it, using a plunger or trying a mixture of dishwashing liquid and boiling water.
