‘If I put myself on £10 I won’t make any money’: Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper says he ‘pays himself 50p an hour’ as he highlights farming issues
Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper has said he “pays himself 50 pence an hour” when highlighting the problems in agriculture on Friday.
The farmer, 24, who rose to fame in the TV show starring Jeremy Clarkson, has since started his own business and has bought eight calves.
In a recent interview, he explained the cost of feeding the animals and that he has to take a low wage to make a profit in the end.
Kaleb told the Perfomance People podcast, “When I work for myself, when I feed my calves, I bought eight calves, it’s kind of a new business idea that I do.
‘And then you give them milk – which costs me about £200 a calf – and then you sell them when they’re nine months old, trying to make a profit, to see if it will work, you know. ‘

He added: ‘But I recently calculated how much my hourly rate is. I pay myself 50 pence an hour so I can make money. But if I set myself at £10 an hour I’m not making any money, I’m losing money on the calves.’
Kaleb stars as one half of the unlikely double act that is a big part of why Clarkson’s Farm is such a hit on Amazon Prime Video.
The show, which follows Jeremy’s attempts to manage his own 400-acre plot after his previous farmer retired, recently broke viewing records.
The season 2 premiere of the farming show was watched by 4.3 million viewers Barbthe official public research group.
The numbers made it Amazon’s highest-rated show since the company began reporting ratings in November 2021, beating the hit The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which launched on the platform last year with 3.2 million viewers.
