Rush hour traffic has slowed to a crawl with massive back-ups through Sydney’s inner west after a ‘self-harm incident’ shut down all traffic in one direction.

City Road in Camperdown at Butlin Avenue has been closed southbound following the reported tragedy, causing traffic to back up to Parramatta Road and beyond.

Commuters have been told to expect delays in both directions due to heavy traffic that began to build up just before 8 a.m. Friday.

Northbound lanes remain open, Live Traffic Sydney said.

This incident is close to the University of Sydney.
