A young man revealed a dark truth about life in one of Australia’s most populated cities.

He shared that he was only able to make “superficial” connections with people despite living in Sydney for a decade.

By comparison, the six months he spent in Perth gave him more friends than he had ever had.

‘Seriously, Perth people, you guys are honestly real. The people here are down to earth, humble, friendly and make you want to build a community,” he said on Reddit.

‘It made me realize what a malaise my life was in Sydney. I feel alive since I moved. The slower pace really allows you to put things into perspective and appreciate the important things in life.’

The man said he was “pinching himself” because he got to call such a “wonderful place” home.

He revealed that he uses meetup groups to find people he can spend time with and it has worked brilliantly.

Many others moving between cities shared the same sentiment.

‘I was in Sydney for 14 years and I’ve been [in Perth] For a month, it’s already the best decision I’ve ever made. “I don’t see myself ever coming back,” said one man.

“People are a lot nicer here, there aren’t even as many assholes compared to Sydney. More relaxed life, without the hustle and bustle. Here it is work to live, not live to work. It has a little bit of everything, city, countryside, beaches, bushes,” wrote another.

Many claim that Perth is the “best city in Australia

One of them noted: ‘Perth is more accessible for a holiday in Southeast Asia. Cheaper flights too.

‘I’ve been here for two years and no one has asked me what school I go to or what suburb I live in to assess my social status. Honestly the best city in Australia and it’s not even close,” one woman added.

But others were shocked by everyone’s positive experiences.

‘Where are you going to meet your friends? “I feel so alone and isolated in this city,” said one.

‘Is this satire? Perth people are very closed off. “I’ve lived here most of my life,” said one man.

‘I found the opposite. “I have made more friends and acquaintances through random encounters in Sydney in the month I have been here than in 15 years in Perth,” a third revealed.
