Ciara’s husband Russell Wilson says he knew he was destined to raise stepson Future Jr whose father is rapper Future: ‘God gave me that gift’

Russell Wilson has opened up about raising his wife Ciara’s son Future Jr., whom he shares with rapper Future.

The 35-year-old NFL star sat down to chat on the TV show IM an athletewhere he opened up about fatherhood and marriage.

Speaking with host and fellow professional athlete Brandon Marshall, Wilson said he believes God gave him the responsibility of raising the nine-year-old boy.

‘You have to love each child as if they were your own. “That’s been the greatest gift of raising Future, Sienna, Win and now Amora,” she said.

The soccer star continued, “God gave me the opportunity to raise them, love them, care for them and teach them every day.” There’s no difference.

“For me, it’s the greatest gift: knowing that it’s the responsibility of raising these four beautiful children all together.”

“Seeing Future smile and playing basketball with Steph Curry, watching Sienna do gymnastics and how hard she puts in… I swear, I think she’s going to win a gold medal doing that,” the proud dad gushed.

Russell explained, “Fatherhood is a direct reflection of what God has done for us.”

‘My dad always talked to me about life. He always encouraged me, he always encouraged me,’ the athlete reflected on his childhood.

‘I have this incredible responsibility every day with Future, with Sienna, with Win and now with Amora. It is a gift and a responsibility to love them the way God wants me to love them,” Wilson shared.

Last fall, Ciara, 37, opened up about how she realized her romantic relationship with the Atlanta-bred rap artist, 40, wasn’t going to work out long-term.

While chatting on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper, the singer said that it was after she and Future welcomed their son that she realized they weren’t meant to be together long-term.

“It’s almost like your taste buds change,” he said.

‘Sometimes you also have to look in the mirror and reflect on yourself. What are the things I could do differently in my life? She continued. ‘I’m looking for a change, but what does that mean?’

She and Future (real name: Nayvadius DeMun Cash) began their relationship in 2012 and in May 2014 they welcomed their son Future Zahir.

They separated in August of that year, supposedly due to the musical artist’s infidelity.

The Goodies creator added that she became more serious after becoming a mother, with the implication that Future didn’t have the same maturation.

‘When you have a child, it is very important to me. “This is not the time to play,” she stated. ‘I’m responsible for another life now, so what am I doing?’ How am I thinking about it?’

In 2015, she and Russell began dating and became engaged in March 2016. They married in July.
