Christmas in November! Stars are jumping on the trend of decorating early

Christmas isn’t coming for another four weeks, with Thanksgiving being the next holiday on the 2020 calendar.

But that hasn’t stopped the US from decorating with reds and greens in an effort to ward off the lockdown blues as COVID-19 is still peaking.

Stars have also jumped on the trend, using social media to show off their tinsel and mistletoe.

According to Business Insider – who spoke to several scientists, early decorating makes people happier.

Psychoanalyst Steve McKeown told Unilad, “ While there can be a number of symptomatic reasons why someone would obsessively want to put up decorations early on, it’s usually for nostalgic reasons, either to relive the magic or to compensate for previous neglect.

‘In a world full of stress and anxiety, people like to interact with things that make them happy and Christmas decorations evoke those strong youthful feelings.’

Dr. Sola Togun Butler, a licensed clinical social worker, told NBC: “ We can’t control a pandemic, but we can control the physical environment. So hanging lights, hanging the Christmas tree, gifts that make you happy or excited, (it) gives you something to look forward to. ‘
