Staying put together isn’t exactly a spa day for Christina Applegate amid her battle with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The Emmy Award winner, 52, spoke candidly about her bikini trimming struggles when she referred to her friend Jamie-Lynn Sigler as “the Simon to my Garfunkel” on the latest episode of her Messy podcast.
“This is what my pubic hair looks like right now,” Applegate joked of Art Garfunkel’s signature curly haircut. “Shave it when your belly is as big as mine. Because you have to lift it up and then tuck it in… you know what I mean?”
“You’re holding on to one hand and trying to stay upright, but you fall in the shower. I know people with MS can relate to this.”
She continued: ‘You can’t just go in there, lift your leg and then move your big belly to see it.’

Sigler empathized with the struggle, adding: “You have to sit on the floor. You literally have to sit on the shower floor and contort yourself in weird ways.”
After revealing she had been diagnosed with MS in 2021, Applegate met Sigler, 43, through mutual friend Lance Bass and they connected over their shared diagnosis, launching their podcast together in March.
Applegate told People that the Sopranos star is “the only person who really knows her” as they “talk about difficult things” on their podcast.
“If I didn’t have that, I wouldn’t be able to go on with my life,” Applegate said.
Sigler added: “We are in two very different places with MS, but we help each other.”
The Big Sky actress was diagnosed with MS in 2002 when she was 20 years old.
“Christina opened doors for me. I didn’t realize how desperately I needed to stop trying to be perfect,” she said.
Applegate previously told Sigler she was feeling “real depression” and “stuck in darkness,” adding: “I’m not enjoying life.”
The Dead to Me star later clarified: “No, I’m not on suicide watch here, okay? I’m not. I never have been.”

“But damn, sometimes I get dark thoughts when you’re dealing with something that’s taken a big part of you away.”
Applegate continued: ‘I challenge anyone to be diagnosed with MS or any kind of chronic illness that has destroyed their previous identity and say, “This is great.” You know?
“No, you have moments where you feel like, ‘This is exhausting and I don’t want to do this.’ But you do it, and having friends like (Sigler) and my beautiful friends who say this shit out loud, it takes the pressure off the balloon, man.”
