Christina Applegate admits to relying on ‘sick sense of humor’ to deal with multiple sclerosis while promoting new podcast on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Christina Applegate admitted she relies on humor to combat multiple sclerosis while promoting her new podcast Monday on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The 52-year-old actress was diagnosed with MS in 2021 and joked with Jimmy, 56, about her condition after taking to the stage with a cane.

“I thought wouldn’t it be funny if I went out and did a somersault like Willy Wonka? And then I was like ta-da, you’d be like ‘What is that? She’s such a liar.’ “That’s not the case. I’m literally disabled,” Christina said.

“I learned from our text exchanges that you have a very sick sense of humor,” Jimmy said.

“This is how I live. That’s how I keep myself well,” Christina said.

‘I like this. I think that it’s good. I think it’s the way to go, for sure,” Jimmy said.

The Married With Children star said otherwise she would cry all the time.

“You probably do a little of that, I’m sure,” Jimmy said.

“Every day when I wake up. Everything is fine,” Christina said.

Jimmy asked her how she was doing in her battle with MS.

“I mean, it sucks. I’m not going to lie. And I think anyone who has MS won’t say, “That’s the best thing that ever happened to me.” “, said Christina.

“That’s really not the case. Because that would mean you have a really shitty life if it’s the best thing, the best thing that ever happened to you, it’s something like that,” Christina said.

‘It was a joke. You do not understand me ! ” Christina teased to the Hollywood studio audience.

Christina was on the ABC show to promote her podcast MeSsy with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, 42, who revealed in 2016 that she was diagnosed with MS when she was 20.

She revealed that their mutual friend Lance Bass encouraged them to talk and they then decided to record their conversations.

“Because we felt that what we were talking about, and we were really raw and honest about what we felt, that it might help. And I think that will help people. I really do. I think people are listening. And you don’t have to have MS to listen to what we’re talking about,” Christina said.

Christina and Jimmy also playfully argued over who was their mutual friend Martin Short’s favorite, 73, who settled the issue by declaring Christina was his favorite.
