Christie Brinkley spoke about her skin cancer diagnosis for the first time when she went through the Today show in New York City on Tuesday.
The 70-year-old supermodel said she would accompany one of her daughters during her dermatology appointment. Once there, Ella Christie asked her daughter’s doctor if she could look at her daughter’s face. That’s when the doctor detected the cancer.
“I didn’t even have an appointment for a checkup, I was accompanying my daughter to the dermatologist,” Christie shared.
“I was in the room and he had a little magnifying glass and he was looking at a couple of things that she was worried about,” Brinkley said.
“I thought, ‘There’s that little dot right here on the side of my head… Should I say something?’ “It’s not my date.”
‘Right at the end… I said, “Before you put that away, do you think you could just look at this?”‘
Then the doctor said, “We have to do a biopsy immediately. This is something.” Then the biopsy came back as cancer,’ he said.
The Sports Illustrated model first revealed in March via Instagram that doctors had found basal cell carcinoma, one of the most common types of skin cancer, on the upper left side of her face.

“They took care of it and luckily my hair grows in that direction, but the scar is barely noticeable,” he said.
According to the American Cancer Society, basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that begins in the basal cells, which are found in the outer layer of the skin.
Basal cell carcinomas usually develop in parts of the skin that are often exposed to sunlight, especially the face. They usually grow slowly and do not usually spread to other parts of the body.
The supermodel went on to advise viewers to wear sunscreen and hats while out in the sun this summer.
The fashion industry mainstay made her first public statement about her basal cell carcinoma last March on her Instagram account.
At the time, she also shared a trio of photos taken before and after having the carcinoma removed from her head.
He also wrote a lengthy message in which he revealed that his medical team had detected his cancer “early.”
Brinkley joked that her doctors “stitched me up to perfection like (a) couture Dior.”
The fashion industry personality has since stated that she first drew attention to the carcinoma during an examination of one of her children.
Brinkley later recalled that his medical team was able to quickly address the problem and remove the carcinoma.
The writer opted for a flowing black long-sleeved dress that showed off the bottom of her toned legs. She added some color to her day’s look with a pair of bright red heels.
Brinkley’s beautiful blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders and chest.
The supermodel then wrote about how she would take preventive measures to protect herself against skin cancer in the future.
‘I’ll put on SPF 30 and reapply as needed, wear long sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat. And doing regular full body checkups… that’s a MUST,” she wrote.
She then advised her followers to “create their own good luck by scheduling that follow-up appointment today.”
The star concluded her message by writing: ‘Spread my friends!’
When she walked onto the Today show on Tuesday, she was wearing a long black coat over a white shirt with red heels and had her hair down.
