Christian Pulisic gave US fans and his team a boost before Saturday’s crucial Round of 16 match with the Netherlands. 

Pulisic scored a winning goal in their final group match against Iran to advance to the next round. He then suffered an abdominal injury in the act of scoring. Following his substitution, he was taken to hospital. 

Amid fears on his condition, what appears to be a snapchat picture of Pulisic from his hospital bed has surfaced on social media, retweeted by the USA team’s official account, showing him cheering.

US Soccer later revealed that Pulisic had suffered a pelvic contusion on Tuesday and was now day to day. However, he had already rejoined the squad at the hotel when they returned from the match.

The photo in question is captioned: ‘So f***ing proud of my guys I’ll be ready Saturday don’t worry.’ 

The Netherlands are next, having finished first in Group A, ahead of Senegal and Ecuador, as well as hosts, Qatar. 

Without Pulisic, the Dutch might be too big to conquer. But with him, they have every chance to knock off the Oranje.
