The woman at the center of the Christian Horner ‘sexting’ scandal will reportedly appeal the decision that cleared the Red Bull boss of any wrongdoing.

An independent internal investigation cleared the 50-year-old of “coercive behavior” towards a female employee, although screenshots of text conversations allegedly between the pair were leaked a day later via an anonymous email.

His wife, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, joined him at the first two Grands Prix of the season in a public show of support for her embattled husband, who has faced calls within the team for him to resign.

The employee was suspended last week from her role at Red Bull as a direct result of the investigation, and Mail Sport revealed she had been told her evidence was “dishonest”.

But in a later development, according to The Sunhas changed legal representation and is preparing to appeal the verdict that exonerated the Red Bull director in the first place.

On Sunday, Horner received hundreds of comments from bewildered fans after she posted a Mother’s Day message to Halliwell.

Fans claimed the timing of his message was “strategic” amid his “sexting” scandal and called him “stupid” for not turning off comments on his Instagram.

He shared photos of Geri to mark Mother’s Day, along with a heartfelt tribute to her in the caption.

She wrote: “Happy Mother’s Day. I am so grateful to the mothers in our family for all they do.” We will always be grateful, today and every day.”

Another extraordinary weekend followed for the Milton Keynes-based team, on and off the track. On Saturday, Dr Helmut Marko insisted that he would not leave Red Bull as a result of the scandal.

tThe 80-year-old motorsports adviser said suspension was now ruled out after talks with the energy drinks company’s sporting director, Oliver Mintzlaff, in the Jeddah paddock.

Just a day earlier, Marko had hinted that he had walked out the door and might never return after being accused by the team of leaking evidence about Horner’s behavior towards a female colleague, a claim he denies.

Marko’s departure may well have prompted Max Verstappen to leave with him, as the world champion promised to do after qualifying in a declaration of loyalty to his mentor.

Now everything is smooth again, and Marko said before the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix: “The conversation with Mintzalff was very good. I think everything is clarified.
