There are certain fashion details that make women extremely happy and pockets are one of them. And yet the joyful design element is missing in many garments.
“I think function is often the last thing on brands’ minds,” explains famed designer Christian Cowan. “Pockets are often overlooked when the priority is the overall design aesthetic.”
To solve this problem in the coolest way possible, Christian collaborated with Candy Crush on a series of adhesive bags that debuted on the runway, worn by a TikTok star.

“Pockets are notoriously ignored by designers, but fashion is begging for them these days,” said the designer who has dressed Lil Nas X, Lizzo and Lady Gaga, among others.

‘I love camping, but I also love functionality. These bags offer both and there is no better way to show them off than on the catwalk,” said Christian.
“They take an otherwise ordinary outfit and make it more fun and functional.”

As an avid Candy Crush player, the game’s candies and rainbow cascades influenced Christian’s designs.
“I took inspiration from the bold and playful colors of the game and incorporated them into my collection by using textures that are used throughout (tweed + denim),” said Christian.
‘The bags come in a range of candy-inspired shades, such as bright pink, electric blue and luscious purple, that mimic the aesthetic of the game. From the style and shape of the bags to the names, the world of Candy Crush is everywhere.”
The pockets are purposely oversized and can be attached to any item of clothing.
“They fit like a brooch, with four easy-to-use pins on each corner of the pocket.”

The design of the pockets complimented the looks Christian had planned for his Spring/Summer 24 collection
Meredith came down the catwalk in a pink tweed mini dress with fur trim, pockets in the same tweed fabric and decorated with silver stripes.
‘I love that these bags suit both myself and Candy Crush, and are made from the same fabrics I showed on the catwalk, but at an accessible price.
“I’ve never done a collaboration that isn’t authentic to myself as a designer,” he said.
“Everything always uses things that I actually used or loved. My designs are meant to bring playful, fun and joy – Candy Crush exudes the same ethos!’
