Chris Smalling was robbed at home on Friday morning in front of his wife and two-year-old child in a gruesome ordeal for the Roma defender.

Italian news center Gazzetta dello Sport reported that three armed robbers broke into the English footballer’s home and forced him to open his family’s safe, where the aggressors took jewelry and other valuables.

Smalling’s wife, Sam, called the police just before 5:00 am and the officers arrived at the family’s villa about 25 miles south of Rome, with all three victims very upset.
