Yo I love the Internet. As a comedian, I spend a lot of my free time on the world wide web. It’s a fantastic way to distract myself from the inevitability of life. Has it ruined our ability to authentically connect with others? Sure. But it’s a small price to pay for a few moments of joy.
Normally, I would encourage people to go out and watch live comedy, but if you’re stuck at home and craving that dopamine rush, here’s my list of the funniest clips. God bless.
1. Dave Attell
Probably the only family-friendly Dave Attell clip I could find. I consider him to be the purest comedian in terms of writing, structure and economy of words. This clip is over 30 years old and the jokes still hold up.
2. Country town
It never fails to make me laugh. Thank goodness moments like this are immortalized on the internet.
3. Norma Macdonald
I often go crazy watching Norm Macdonald videos. His legendary appearances on the Late Show and Conan are a real treat. I miss that old lump of coal.
4. Liza Treyger
I love her rhythm and her way of singing. It’s casual, conversational and very funny. The audience is terrible in this clip, but Liza shines.
5. Dan Rath
When someone asks me to suggest an Australian comedian to watch, I always say Dan Rath. He’s a brilliant writer and actor, and the best thing is to see him live. Go see him.
6. Tom Green
A pioneer of comedy and radio broadcasting, his jokes were always funny, silly and never malicious, something sorely lacking today.
7. Maria Bamford
Maria masterfully pokes fun at a particularly hackneyed style of comedy in her own unique way. Brilliant.
8. Adam Sandler
Taken from his Netflix special 100% Fresh. Beautifully shot and really captures the fun of stand-up comedy. A round of applause for Sandman.
9. Tim Heidecker
I watch a lot of bad comedy. Most of the time it’s recordings of my own performances. But nobody does bad comedy better than Tim Heidecker. The full special is also on YouTube.
10. Nathan for you
Nathan Fielder always makes me laugh. It’s a thought-provoking and guilt-inducing story.
