Chris Hemsworth returns as mercenary Tyler Ryke in the action-packed trailer for Extraction 2 – after it’s discovered he’s genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s disease.
The Australian actor, 39, reportedly isn’t planning to retire anytime soon, but he will reportedly be taking on fewer roles in the future.
In November, he revealed that he is “eight to ten times” more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than the general population, as he has two copies of the APOE4 gene.
But in the new trailer for Netflix’s Extraction 2, Hemsworth throws himself back into the action, performing his own outrageous stunts.
In the dramatic preview, the actor can be seen throwing punches even while he’s on fire – and later trying to shoot down a helicopter in one of the many fight scenes.

Having barely survived the events of the first film, Rake is back as an Australian black ops mercenary charged with another deadly mission: to rescue the troubled family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
Chris stars alongside Golshifti Farahani, who reprises her role from the first film, as well as Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, and Tinatin Dalakishvili.
Extraction was released on the streaming giant in 2020 and became the most-watched original movie in its history, reaching 99 million households in its first four weeks of release.
Based on the graphic novel Cuidad by Ande Parks, the film was praised for its jam-packed fight scenes, as well as for giving Rake emotional depth and backstory.
The Thor star currently has four projects in the works – including an upcoming Avengers sequel where he returns as Thor, and an untitled biopic about wrestling icon Hulk Hogan.

In the same interview, Chris revealed that he is at a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease after filming a confrontational episode about death for his Disney+ documentary series Limitless.
After a blood test for the program, he was informed that he was 8 to 10 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than the general population, as he is one of only two to three percent of people with two copies of the APOE4 gene.
“Yes,” he said, “there was a severity in sailing it.”
Most of us like to avoid talking about death in the hope that we will somehow avoid it.
The former Home and Away star added, “We all have this belief that we’re going to figure it out. Then all of a sudden we’re told that some big sign is actually pointing to this as the way it’s going to happen, and the fact of it just sinks in.”
The actor reacted to the news that he was predisposed to Alzheimer’s disease by adopting a healthier lifestyle.
“For me, the positivity of that was like, ‘Right, if I didn’t know this information, I wouldn’t have made the changes you made,'” he said.
“I wasn’t aware of any of that, so now I feel grateful that I have in my arsenal some kind of tool to best prepare myself and prevent things from happening that way.”

The Discovery: Following the stardom of Chris and his superhero movies, Limitless follows the star as he pushes the opposite of what his body can do.
