It’s been revealed that Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson and more have joined the cast of Transformers One, the first Transformers animated movie in over 40 years.
Chris Hemsworth will play young Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry will play young Megatron, and Scarlett Johansson will play Elita.
Directed by the famous Toy Story 4 Josh Cooley, Transformers One will hit theaters on July 19, 2024 and will be a somewhat prequel movie, centering around the younger versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
Joining the aforementioned cast members will be Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.
The last animated film in the beloved series was 1986’s The Transformers: The Movie, which was itself based on the Transformers series.
The film was greenlighted by Paramount in 2020 and was said to be set on Cybertron: “A place on the planet Cybertron from which the good guy and bad guy robots came. The movie is about the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron.”
This news follows an all-new trailer for Transformers: Rise of Beasts, which hits theaters on June 9, 2023.
