In January 1982, 33-year-old Lynette Dawson disappeared from her home on the beaches north of Sydney.
She disappeared only a year after her husband Chris Dawson began having an affair with his 16-year-old student, Joanne Curtis.
At four and two years old, Shanelle and Sherryn Dawson had been told that their mother would never come back.
In notes kept by the disconsolate mother of the missing woman, Shanelle and Sherryn said: "We hope you will not find Mom at parties."

Pam Jenkins, Lynette's afflicted sister, read the written notes of her late mother on ABC's Australian Story.
"Mom had written down things that the kids used to say," said Mrs. Jenkins.
"One of the things she noted that the girls told her was Lyn was her simulated mother, who was not her real mother."
The girls also said, "Papi shares everything with Joanne."
At one point his mother wrote: "Dad will marry Joanne when she becomes a mother."
He met Mr. Dawson when he became a Physical Education teacher at Cromer High in 1979 and was in Year 10.
Ms. Dawson disappeared in January 1982, more than a year after her husband Chris Dawson (pictured) began having an affair with her 16-year-old student, Joanne Curtis.
At that time, he had been married for nine years, had two daughters and was 16 years older than Mrs. Curtis.

"She is a victim and she is a survivor," said the friend. "And she's a scared girl and, in a way, she's a very brave woman."
