Chris Brown performs at Wireless 12 years after he was ‘banned from UK’ for assaulting Rihanna

Chris Brown took to the stage at his first UK festival in 12 years on Friday after previously being refused entry to the country in 2010.

The singer, 33, was announced as one of the headliners at Wireless festival last month and he performed in London this week at Crystal Palace Park.

It comes more than 10 years after he was reportedly banned from Great Britain in 2010 following his alleged assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

He wore a pair of blue denim jeans and opted for a comfortable pair of box fresh white trainers.

Chris sported a blue stripe in his bleached blonder hair and he jumped about the stage in a bid to please the crowd.

The pop star’s Wireless show comes more than a decade on from when he allegedly assaulted his then-girlfriend, fellow pop star Rihanna, at a Grammys party in 2009.

It was previously reported that the rapper’s visa for entry to the UK was denied due to him committing a serious criminal offence and being ordered to carry out community service.

A Home Office spokesperson wrote on social media at the time: ‘We reserve the right to refuse entry to the UK to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offence. Public safety is one of our primary concerns.’

Fans suspected the ban had been lifted after Chris made a surprise appearance on stage during Wizkid’s show at London’s O2 Arena in November last year.

Chris was announced in the line-up for Wireless earlier this year, with the star being unable to travel and perform at the festival without a lift of the ban.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Chris for comment.

It comes after Chris appeared to have congratulated Rihanna on giving birth in May.

Umbrella singer Rihanna – who had a tumultuous relationship with Chris between 2007 and 2009 – welcomed her first child with A$AP Rocky in May and her ex-boyfriend has seemingly sent his well wishes just hours after the news broke.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘Congratulations!’ and emblazoned the Stories post with emojis of a pregnant woman, a heart, and a pair of hands folded in prayer.

The Diamonds hitmaker met Chris way back in 2005 when they were just entering the music industry before going on to develop a relationship which came to an abrupt halt in 2009 when an argument on the way to the Grammy Awards led to Rihanna reportedly becoming a victim of physical violence at the hands of Chris.

A reunion between the pair lasted between 2012 and 2013 before Rihanna dated rapper Drake until 2016 and had a three-year relationship with businessman Hassan Jameel before getting together with rapper ASAP Rocky in 2021 and announced that she was expecting his baby in January 2022.

A source told TMZ in May: ‘Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are officially parents … welcoming a baby boy to the world.’

While there was no news of the name of the baby, the star is said to have given birth in Los Angeles.
