Maryland State Police have launched an extensive search to find a young girl who has disappeared.
Chloe Brooks Parker, 12, was reported missing Monday. Cumberland Police have issued an Amber Alert throughout Allegany County, urging people to help find her.
Police described her as a “frequent runaway” and said they had not received any tips about her whereabouts since Monday evening.
The Amber Alert reads: “The Cumberland Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing juvenile.
“Chloe Brooke Parker is a 12-year-old female who was last seen in the area of Oldtown Road Cumberland, MD,” a statement said.
The last time Chloe disappeared from her home before Monday was Oct. 7, according to Cumberland police. She returned home a day later.
“Basically the circumstances are that she has permission to go somewhere in this city, either to an activity at a friend’s house, and she just didn’t come home,” said Sergeant Fickes of the Cumberland Police Department. Newsweek.
“We pick her up and take her home, and we try to get her some counseling and family services, but sometimes that doesn’t always work.”

Concerned members of the county discussed Chloe’s recurring disappearances.
“Despite running away all the time, she is only 12 years old,” wrote Sonia Lewis of Cumberland.
“This little girl needs to be evaluated if she is found. Prayers for her safety and that she is found.”
Another resident, Crissi Folk, added: ‘If this is something that happens all the time, I suggest someone investigate the real problem.
‘Some children just don’t want to be told what to do, others have a hidden problem that needs to be addressed.’
According to data collected by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC)Of the 29,000 reports of missing children they received in 2023, 93 percent consisted of runaway children.
Chloe’s disappearance was reported a day after the body of a missing Wisconsin boy was found.
Chloe was last seen near Old Town Road in Cumberland, according to police
Jacob Baer, 7, went missing Saturday while playing at a park in Two Rivers.
On Sunday morning, police found items believed to be his under the icy waters of the West Twin River.
Authorities later revealed that they had found Jacob, who has autism, five to eight feet below the surface of the water.
