In China, a driver with ride share has been executed for robbing, raping and killing a 19-year-old female passenger.
Zhong Yuan, 28, committed the crimes after encountering gambling debts. He was put to death today by the Intermediate People & # 39; s Court of Wenzhou in East China, the court said.
The case, which took place a year ago in the city of Yueqing, has shocked millions of Chinese app vehicle users and has led the country's largest carpool company to suspend its service.

The 19-year-old victim, identified by the court by her last name Zhao, was robbed and raped after hiring Mr. Zhong's car. The driver then stabbed her to death and dropped her body off a cliff
Prior to the case, Mr. Zhong had received carpool orders through Didi, the court said today in a statement
Didi is the largest ride-hailing platform that in 2016 bought the Chinese company from Uber.
He had conceived the idea of robbing female passengers after they had incurred debts due to gambling. He had prepared knives, full face shields, and tires for committing crimes.
He successfully robbed a female passenger on August 23, the day before he received an order from the victim, known by her surname Zhao, via the Didi app.
Miss Zhao, 19, rented Mr. Zhong's car in the early afternoon for a trip to Yongjia County in Zhejiang.
Mr. Zhong tried to convince Miss Zhao to cancel her Didi order and continued the journey privately, but Miss Zhao refused.

According to the court, Zhong committed the crimes on a remote road in the mountains of Danxi Town.
He used a knife to threaten Miss Zhao and cut out her left hand. He then used ties to tie Miss Zhao's arms and legs before transferring 9,000 yuan (£ 1,032) of her digital wallet to his bank account.
Mr. Zhong drove on to a nearby village and then raped Miss Zhao in the back row of his car.
Fearing that his crimes would come to light, he pinched Miss Zhao's neck and repeatedly stuck her neck, causing her to die.
He dropped her body off a cliff and fled.

Zhong was arrested three days later on August 27 and charged with murder, rape and theft in November.
He was sentenced to death on February 1 by the Intermediate People & # 39; s Court of Wenzhou. The court said they executed the man this afternoon following an instruction from the Supreme People's Court.
The murder case led to a national investigation into car sharing services.
Didi, at that time & # 39; the world's largest driver company due to the number of journeys and the worldwide expansion, apologized to its users one day after the crime had happened. The company said it could not meet everyone's trust and bear unmistakable responsibility for the incident.
The company suspended its carpool service in China on 27 August.
Since August last year, the Chinese authorities have launched a series of campaigns to tighten up supervision of its transport sector, in particular journey companies.
